The Engineer provided a base aerial photograph looking north on I-25 at University Boulevard Interchange.
POITRA used traditional digital painting techniques to remove or adjust properties and roadways, widen I-25 and modify the University interchange to accommodate the extra lanes. In addition to the existing conditions and sixteen lanes version of the images a land use version was made to emphasize the net land area take of a sixteen lane I-25.
Graphic artists at POITRA created graphic display board layouts for each image.
The three final simulation display boards were each printed in large color format and mounted to panels. The governor used the displays at press conferances and meetings. A large photo of the governor appeared in Denver Post holding the POITRA displays. Ultimately this effort resulted in funding and construction of the southeast I-25 corridor (TREX) project and it included light rail.
