POITRA was asked to complete an additional series of visual simulations to address anticipated visual impact and design concerns of certain public local governmental stakeholders. This simulation addressed concerns that the additional commuter rail structure next to the existing heavy freight structure would create a black hole underpass for South Platte River Trail users.
Poitra provided expertly-done photo simulations, and sometimes under tight time constraints, which were instrumental in conveying project concepts to our audiences.”

POITRA provided the base photographs for this view from the trail pedestrian bridge over the South Platte River. This allowed POITRA photographers to determine and optimal sun angle for the simulation and to wait for a wonderfully clear Colorado day. We also took care to capture a biker in the perfect location to help in viewer understanding of the scale of the new structure.
Bridge design experience made plan reading trouble free and the POITRA field trip helped in understanding precisely where the structural elements would sit in relation to existing trees, walls and bridge.
POITRA modelers created a 3D site model that included the structures and survey information for the trail. The model was matched to the base photograph, lighted and rendered and then composited to create the simulation.
POITRA used traditional digital painting techniques to complete the simulation once the elements were located using the site model.
The finished visual simulation was used in stakeholder meetings and helped to demonstrate that the higher grade of the commuter rail line and the concrete structure type made black hole fears unwarrented.
